Stihia Festival, 2025

Stihia 2025 is a music festival held in the desert of Karakalpakstan, on the dried-up seabed of what was once the Aral Sea. I came to Stihia as an artist with the installation The Dream of the Bathtub (see the “art project” section), but as a photographer, I couldn’t help documenting everything happening around me. This photo story is told from the perspective of a festival participant — from behind-the-scenes moments during setup and snapshots of the festival days to the final photographs of the installation being burned in the closing ritual.
